Abstract
Hemp has been used for centuries, and interest in its medicinal properties has been increasing in recent years. Hemp seems a virtual factory for the production of secondary metabolic compounds. A variety of alkanes as well as nitrogenous compounds, flavonoids, steroids, cannabinoids, stilbenoids, terpenoids, lignans and alkaloids has been identified in hemp. Russian thistle is belong to chenopodiaceae family and tolerate to the salinity conditions. This weed will be found more in such soils in the near future. In order to study fertilizer effects on concentration of plant extract in hemp at the presence of Russian thistle densities, an experiment has been done as a split plot based on randomized complete block design with three replications at research farm, agricultural faculty of Azarbaijan Shahid Madani University, Tabriz-Iran in 2016. Factors were chicken manure, vermicompost and nitrogen splitted as the main plot and weed density (0, 5, 10, 15 and 20 plants m-2) as the subplot. Results showed that the effects of fertilizer, weed density and the interaction effects of the fertilizer and weed density on concentration of plant extract was significant (P<0.01). The maximum plant extract were related to chicken manure and vermicompost (0.194 and 0.191%, respectively) and the minimum plant extract was related to nitrogen splitted (0.12%). Also, the maximum plant extract obtained by increasing levels of weed density, so that the maximum concentration was related to 15 Russian thistle plants per m2 (0.21%), but plant extract reduced at the 20 Russian thistle plants per m2. The minimum concentration of plant extract was related to 0 and 5 weed plants per m2. Interaction effects revealed that concentration of hemp extract increased by application of organic fertilizers and increasing weed density up to 15 plants per m2. In contrast, concentration of hemp extract did not change by application of splitted nitrogen and increasing Russian thistle density.
