Abstract
Phoretic mites are seen in most families of Mesostigmata order. These mites are attached to different parts of the insect bodies but often located under the elytra and on the legs. The insects of orders Coleoptera, Diptera, Hymenoptera and Lepidoptera are the main hosts of Mesostigmatid mites. In order to identify the phoretic mesostigmatid mites associated with Carabidae beetles, several sampling were done in some regions of Razavi Khorasan province during 2016 and 2017. In this study, some mite species of the Ascidae, Digamasellidae, Halolaelapidae, Mellicharidae and Uropodidae families were collected as adult females and deutonymph from their insect hosts. Among them, specimens of adult females of Proctolalelaps izabelae Faraji, 2011 from the Mellicharidae family is reported for the first time in Iran and from the Carabidae family. This species previously has been collected from the nest of birds in the Netherlands. The most important characteristics of this species are: Dorsal shield entire and oval 415 (395–425) long, 256 (223–275) wide at j6; Shield in podonotal region reticulated and in opisthonotal region with horizontal lines between J1-J3 and close to J5; Two dark area in lateral margin of opisthonotal; Dorsum with 43 pairs of simple setae and 19 pairs of discernible pore-like structures (gland pores and lyrifissures); Peritremes long, extending to setae z1; Anal shield oval shape with three fine and smooth circum-anal setae. Anal opening big and located at the anterior half of the shield. Glands gv3 located on the lateral margins of the shield; Anterior margin of gnathotectum rounded with denticles; Movable digit of chelicerae with three teeth and mucro outgrowth at the base of it well developed. Fixed digit of chelicerae with 9 small teeth with unsclerotized oval area that bearing a row of small numerous denticles in internal Lateral surface of it. Some collected species are new to science which are under description. The name of identified species are as following:
